Due to the CPSIA law that was passed in August and takes effect on Feb. 10, 2009, we are re-evaluating whether it will be possible to stay in business as a small company making clothing items for children. While v.lou textiles agrees with the idea behind the law, we feel the burden has been unduely placed upon the small business owner and not rightfully on the manufacture. It is our hope that the law will be revised, however, as it stands now, we will not be able to continue making any items for children under 12 after Feb. 10, 2009. If you would like more info on the CPSIA law and how it will affect you the consumer, we have some helpful links to look at on our blog. Thank you.

cpsia update: The rules are here to stay but the penalties have been delayed for a year provided manufacturers are not selling any bad stuff with knowledge. Items presumed safe include wood, natural materials, yarn, and textiles unless they contain metallic thread, rhinestones, zippers or snaps. I have checked with my suppliers and have been given documentation that ALL the items I am selling are both lead and phthalate free including the snaps on the onesies and the non-toxic water-based ink I use for screen-printing. I will continue to sell these items until further notice. Thank you to everyone who spoke out about the way this law was worded.
